Undulating beds & matchsticks
21 June 2009 | Aberdaron / Holyhead
Yesterday saw us departing for Aberdaron, hardly an epic journey at 16 miles but it left us ideally placed for a quick dash through Bardsey Sound at 4am this morning (yes 4am this is not a typo') It was easy to get up for this early start as our bed in the forepeak had developed a life of it's own by 2am and we were pitched and tossed about with little chance of quality sleep.............a roll to match anything that Newquay could throw at us.
Matchsticks kept our eyes open as we plodded north, with no wildlife to report only the usual Gannets and some Razor Bills (who are so chicken that they dive under the water at the mere sight of a boat)....... We had set out with fleeces and oilskin jackets on but after an hour went in search of warm hats and I even seriously considered putting on the gorgeous new pink thermals that I had found whilst unpacking. Welcome to flaming June and mid-summer's day!
Arrival at Holyhead was in the drizzle so we decided to grab lunch and catch up on some sleep and hope that the fog forecast for tomorrow does not materialise...
