AM - Strong winds, handed the large mizzen and set 2nd mizzen.
0400hrs - More winds, in jib and 2nd mizzen, set storm mizzen.
0800hrs - Strong gale with sea making.
Noon - D winds with heavy rain, sun obscure, Lat. by acc. 39.57 South, longitude by acc. 98.10 East of Greenwich.
1300hrs - Heavy gusts of wind and rain, set reef 2nd mizzen forward.
1400hrs - Gale fast increasing.
1600hrs - Complete hurricane with mountains of sea and very heavy - brought the ship head to wind, not being prudent to run any longer, ship riding very easy to a raft prepared for the purpose.
1900hrs - Rather less wind and veered to the westward. Hauled the raft onboard, made sail, set reef 2nd mizzen forward.
2000hrs - Strong gale with a heavy sea running.
Midnight - Less wind and sea.
