April in Day Horbor

We moved back aboard the Mystic Knot and headed for Day Harbor... which proved to be a very exciting trip... we had planned for about 4 days out, but it turned into 9 due to weather. We did not mind. Alaska has so many glaciers that fresh water is always available. Easter sunday the wildlife was out in force with their young in tow. We watched little otters sleeping on their mother's bellies... baby sea lions learning how to dive for food... young eagles attempting to hunt... and no end to starfish lining the shoreline and low tide. Since we were low on supplies our Easter Sunday brunch was simple, but delicious! Horseradish and dill deviled eggs, honey ham, steamed carrots, mashed potatoes, and baked apples for dessert. The storm finally passed and we were able to make it back to Resurrection Bay in good time.

So Ready for Spring Sailing!

The countdown is on... and we will soon be de-winterizing our beloved lil' sailboat. Last year we spent many hours stripping, sanding, and oiling our teak. And this year we are ready to PLAY!

Winter in Seward

25 January 2010 | Seward, AK.
Quick Recap of 2009:
After getting the Mystic Knot back in the water last June, we sailed her over to Seward. We spent the summer cruising Resurrection Bay & Prince William Sound... It was a great summer of sailing. The photo was taken while at anchor in Prince William Sound.
Now, the Mystic is winterized in Seward, and we are very anxious to get aboard her again in May.
Cheers till then...

Still on the Hard

We are still making improvements to our amazing sailboat... it seems the more you fix & change, the MORE you find to fix & change! At some point, enough is enough! Once the thru-hole is operating, the bottom paint is dry, and all unnecessary objects are removed, she is going back in.
