Sooke to Bamfield

What's that, a crab trap attached to our anchor? A submerged crap trap had attached itself to our anchor chain. At 7:45am, slowly navigating the narrow channel into the Strait of Juan de Fuca to find thick fog and light winds right on our nose. Time to practice more with the radar, we could not see a thing but we knew there was a large freighter to our port side. The fog lifted at 10:30am, we could finally see a glimpse of land again. The seas were confused as we headed up the West coast of Vancouver Island. Doug and Steve were trying to make coffee with the Keurig coffee maker but there was not enough power to run the inverter. Uh Oh we have a charging problem with our house batteries!? While underway, D & S had their heads in the engine room and then the bilge tracing the wiring where they found a loose ground wire at hub near the batteries. Problem fixed and we again have happy crew members now that they can make coffee! (Who cares that the radar was intermittent). We arrived at Bamfield at 5pm and anchored under sunny skies. Friends, David and Pamela on AmyKay, were on their mooring ball not far from us.
