Ensenada

After yesterdays safe haven, we made it to our final destination. Ensenada is a port of entry where cruisers generally clear into the country. It is rustic and the influence of the states is evident, it seems more like an extension of California. Prices are quoted in both currencies and you can find any kind of cuisine you wish including many Chinese restaurants.
As we entered the bay, we figured out where the marina was, and docked ourselves as we had been unable to hail the marina on VHF. We were looking forward to experiencing the clearing process into Mexico, luckily they are all located in the same office, which makes for a rather quick process. It went well but still it took the better part of 2 hours to get everything in order with L and ourselves filling in various forms. The entire process is finalized by the push of a button for customs, will it be green or red? L pushed the button....it was green and we were on our way.
Our first impression of the city was the dock with no boards on it and we looked at each other and wondered but things goto better as we strolled the streets of Ensenada. We became familiar with where things were such as the superstore and the chandlery, we saw poverty, prostitution, restaurants and we were careful as we walked through the uneven streets and walkways. L was able to communicate in spanish which was extremely helpful and we found some good tacos along the way.
We have now experienced clearing into Mexico and can see that next time we will plan to be here early, clear into the Mexico and be on our way.
