6 hours to Bahia Santa Maria

While in Turtle Bay we were anchored in a beautiful bay with lots of room, while there we visited the rustic little town, people there were very friendly. There were about 4 restaurants, a tackle shop, gas station and a grocery store. This was really a test of our ability to speak Spanish and we have a long way to go but managed to communicate with the help of our book. It was extremely dusty and once we left the bay we had to clean off the boat. On one of the days the cruisers played baseball with the locals and had a great time, the next day was a very large beach party ..... you can imagine about 170 boats and all of the people on board all at the beach! We felt sorry for a fellow who anchored his Lagoon too close to sure and was hard aground, once the tide started to come in lots of cruisers went out to help him move the boat off of the sand. Peiter has been cooking up a storm on board....thank you Pieter. We left the bay at 6:30am on Oct 29th headed for Bahia Santa Maria, this will be 1 overnight trip. Winds were light to begin with but did increase to 10 - 12 knots later that morning so we were able to motor sail and maintain an average speed of 6.5 knots. During the day, again we had dolphins visit the boat, the show was amazing. Night came and it was dark and quiet. we had 5 boats around us as we travelled through the night. Morning came, the sky was red with clouds scattered amongst the red, what an awesome sight, then came the dolphins again, what a way to start the morning off. It is great to have the watermaker on board, this morning the girls all had a shower, what a great feeling. We have the fishing lines out again but nothing so far, others in the fleet are catching fish like crazy. We have to check and find out what they are using for lures. We hope to get into the Santa Maria right before dark Whats that.....another cruiser just caught a 39lb tuna....Mahi Mahi. That's it for now...... #
