Crossing the Sea of Cortez to Mazatlan
18 November 2011
Carole
We left Los Muertos this morning at 2am, this is our first night crossing where we do not have any other crew onboard, it is just ourselves. Ken took the first watch till 5:30 and then I was on watch. The 1/2 moon lit the way and there was no wind to speak of (2 - 5knots), the swells were mostly 2 ft but on occasion we had swells of 4-6ft.
The sunrise was beautiful, I will post a picture once we get WiFi....Ken missed it as he was sleepiing. During the night we listen to the Ipod plus read our Spanish for Cruisers book......we are really trying to learn some spanish, we are finding that if we use the words while at a restaurant, etc, it gets a little easier each time. I think it is going to take a while though to stick..!
We have about another 20 hours before we reach Mazatlan so we will have another night watch schedule tonight. The wind has finally picked up and we now have our sails out on a beam reach...whohoo! That's it for now.
