Olu Deniz

22 April 2012 | Turkey
Dean
The magic of Turquoise Coast of southern Turkey would be difficult to describe. The water colour gives it its name. The coastal mountain range soars to 6,500 feet, while the Taurus range just inland is twice that. And what better way to view the vista than a 40 minute descent from a 6,000 foot cliff! Soaring high above Olu Deniz’s white beaches the Admiral earned his wings. His first leap was aborted at the cliff’s edge. I have the video. Yikes!

Just behind Fethiye are the Lycian rock tombs of old Telmessus built around the 4th century BC. It is getting difficult to leave this place. Met a Canadian couple who have lived aboard their boat here at ECE Fethiye Marina for the past year now. And they plan to return here after their summer cruise.

Turkey is not what we expected.
