Back on the dock again....

Another beautiful day and we have come back to the dock to charge up the batteries fully and to be here, ready to take Peri and Al ashore in the morning. Just as we were leaving the mooring field, our other boat buddies Kathy and Earl from Seeker arrived and took up a mooring just adjacent to the one that we were vacating. Almost made me want to hang around but then I saw Peri peering up at me from the companionway and realized that he needed his examination to be able to continue the trip with us, so off we went to the docks but not before making arrangements to meet later in the day.
This morning Barb and traveled out to Loeb's to get a faucet set to replace the old one in the foreword head that is always leaking. It will involve me drilling one more hole into the counter top but the old one will be covered by the faucet set so no one will know. We also bout ourselves one of those3 garden sprayer units that you can fill with warm water and give each other a shower on deck after swimming in the salt water. I can't wait. (Dreaming: Barb in her skimpies or birthday suit getting sprayed down by yours truly....ahh... dreams are made of this!)
At any rate.....back to reality. After returning to the boat I got down to work installing the new faucet set to replace the old shower unit. Of course the nozzle hose wouldn't fit the thread on the new set but that's something that I can fix in a plumbing shop by buying an adaptor but in the meanwhile we are not going to be using the shower. It was much more of a job than I anticipated what with getting the old hoses off that had been there for 30 years and drilling new holes in the counter for the new hot and cold spigots. At any rate, after about two hours when I was hoping that it would only be ½ it was sort of done. The final "gottcha" was that the cold water hose was a piece of reinforced tube that was just a little too bit for the new hose nipples. At some point I will fix it with a lot of heat and cinching it down to fit. Either that or buy yet another adaptor. Personally I favour the heat and make it fit method.
Tonight we're alongside and joined Earl and Kathy from Seeker in going to a bar and grill where fro happy hour they offer 1 pound of ribs for $5 and crabcakes or coconut shrimp at $1 each. Ymmmm! Then we came back to Nelleke to get her tidied up for tomorrow's departure. We had hoped to have Eric and Cori join us but they had been to the Grill a couple of times already plus they had an offer to go somewhere for music which sort of trumped the ribs. The trip to the vet has been resolved thanks to Kathy and Earl who are renting a car and have offered to chauffer the animals and us to the vet's office.
I will be sorry to leave this place. It really is a great spot for cruisers to stop off and recharge or relax. One comment: There seem to be an awful lot of single guys living on their boats - divorced or bereaved, they are all hanging out here living the dream in a sort spaced out fashion. They are flirting with everything in skirts married or single, but it is sort of like they aren't sure what to do if they get a positive response.
