Raincoats on? Raincoats off!?!

OK. This was a phrase that we used to use in the army for commanders who couldn't make up their minds and today I confess that I felt a little like one of those. We set of full of high hopes and expectations that after the engine flush everything would be hunky-dory. Guess what? They weren't. Half way across the mouth of the Chesapeake Basin I asked Barb how she felt about leaving the boat here in Virginia and driving home. Many of our friends that we have met on this trip have done just that only most of them didn't get this far north before they made that decision. In our case I finally decided that I didn't want to be worrying the engine through another week or two of transit, plus, quite selfishly, with my recently diagnosed kidney stones I wanted to get back to the land of free medicine as soon as possible. So, remembering that Silverheels spent a summer here, we contacted one of the many marinas here in Deltaville and made a reservation. Not only will; we put Nelleke up on the hard to await our return next year, but we will also get them to do the work on the motor - cutlass bearing, stuffing box, engine alignment, plus I'll get them to try to figure out what might be causing the overheating. I have one more "easy" solution and that is the thermostat. If it is sticking and not opening fully, the fresh water side of the cooling system might be the culprit.
This is a weird feeling to not have a boat for the summer back home, but maybe a break will be a good thing. It will certainly allow us to recharge the credit cards and the cruising kitty and perhaps I could get a job on one of the mega yachts that visit Halifax as a deck ape or engineer.
We are looking for an apartment or a house to sit back home and a van to rent to get us there. Deltaville is a small place with literally nothing here except numerous marinas and a gas station. Hopefully we will be able to work something out before we get there as we will need somewhere to unload everything so as to turn in the rental vehicle.
