Different work from what I have been doing for the last couple of days. Back to the Binnacle to make a few buckazoids and then home tonight to continue working on the e-pamphlets. I am beginning to see the work at the Binnacle as a nice break from the pamphlets as they are a lot more work setting up than I had originally thought that they'd be, especially with the photos to accompany the directions. Ah well, when they're done they will be a good thing to have available. It's really interesting to meet the people from all the different places when they come from the yacht clubs, where they have stopped to provision and refit, into the store. Today there were people from as diverse places as Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, Korea (presumably South), France and the USA; all with different needs and problems for us to solve. I find that quite a bit of fun. It's also interesting to compare the yachties that come to the store with the tourists off the cruise liners that Barb deals with at the store where she works. Virtually all of the boat people are good folks whereas the same cannot be said, unfortunately for many of the people that Barb has to smile at. (See her post from a couple of days ago to get the full story)
The photo accompanying today's post is of a painting that Barb found when she was marching through the Halifax Airport a couple of years ago. There was one of those kiosks set up so the artist could sell her paintings and the work Nelleke jumped out at Barb as she walked by. Closer examination showed that it was a painting of our boat when in the hands of a previous owner, rafted up to numerous other smaller boats in Chester's back harbour. She was in a rush so she couldn't stop to buy it as the artist was busy with someone else but the decided to get it the next time she was in the airport. She did so and we let our daughter KT keep it with her while we were sailing about in the boat and has just brought it down for us to keep us in touch with Nelleke while we are on the hard.
