Barb and I are heading out to the club after I finish this tonight for their Valentine's Day dinner special. We have never yet been to one of the club's specials so we are quite looking forward to it, plus the menu looks great:
MENU
~Starter~
Hors D'oeuvres Sampler
~Appetiser~
Beet and Goat Cheese Napoleon
Or
Saffron Mussel Soup
~Main Course~
Breast of Chicken Stuffed with Lobster and Brie
Or
Potato and Herb Crusted Escallop of Halibut
~Dessert~
Lemon Roulade with Raspberries
Or
Double Chocolate Brownie Pie with Butterscoth Whipped Cream
a four course meal for two for $70! It would be pretty tough to beat that. Of course you have to add on the bar bill but with a pre-dinner drink and a glass of wine each with the meal, I expect that the whole thing will end up for less than $100, in particular as the price includes the tip and the taxes. I am going to have to try to get some flowers to have waiting for her on the table when we arrive. There was one Valentine Day where we went out to a really posh restaurant and I got one of the local florists to deliver a floral table setting to the restaurant and arranged with the staff to have them set things up before we arrived. I also got some gifts and gave them to the manager to have them waiting for herself when she sat down. Many brownie points were earned and there were a lot of other ladies in the restaurant giving Barb big smiles but their escorts were just glaring at me. Hee, hee, hee! That alone was almost worth it.
I have learned how to make the FTP software work. I did get a few hints from Barb but I think that I now have it cased so I will be able to shift any future large files that I need to upload to a website with some ease and apparent skill. It just takes a while especially the cookbook with all the drawings and photos in it. I can't say enough good things about lulu.com - the ease of use, it's free, the flexibility, it's free, the assistance to marketing your book, it's free..... All of the others that I had looked at were going to cost me close to $1000 to get the book ready to go. With that money you got as many as five author's copies of the book (whooooooo! Imagine that.) and some book cards that you are supposed to hand out at book shows or when someone asks about your literary efforts.
Meals are becoming a bit of a challenge since Barb has packed most of the kitchen utensils and we are trying to eat down the stores in the cupboard and fridge. This means that today we set off to the Farmer's Market again to get our meals for the next couple of days. Fortunately there are a couple of small butchers there as well as folk that make things like meat pies and savouries. We scored a Cornish pasty for me to have for lunch on the days that I go into work at the store plus some bratwurst and buns to have for dinner on Monday. There is still some ground turkey that Barb plans to build into some concoction for Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday everything will be packed so we will head out to a fast food joint or something when the stomach growls.
Finally for today's post, the cookbook is finally out on the market. Check out this site.
Son of a Sea Cook. I am wriggling with excitement that it is actually out there. Also you could look at this one for all of the books both paperback and e-book that we have finally gotten out there.
