An early start and down the Sound

Just a quick thumb from Fisher's Island off the mouth of the Thames River. We arrived around 1300 after a day motoring up the Sound with zip wind to even fill the sails and wouldn't you know it? The wind piped up to 15-20 knots just as we were trying to anchor. After two tries here we finally are in 10' of water with 110 feet of chain out plus our 15' snubbed waiting for our friend Jim to arrive with his sloop to join us for dinner aboard and to spend the night here on the hook. The weather forecast is good for tomorrow for us to toddle along for another visit to Newport and a couple of days to provision and do laundry and some maintenance.

This is an interesting spot. Obviously folks that live here are more than well off. They are "comfortable". Indeed half the island or a couple of miles of it is gated!

When Jim arrives he is going to set his anchor too when he rafts off us so I will feel a lot better about staying put throughout the night.
