An early morning thumb to add to last night

We got up early this morning to take the long suffering pooch in for a walk. 36 hours is great bladder control!
I must say that I am underwhelmed at this end of the island. Everyplace I saw, and I grant that I only saw a few, needed maintenance and as for the "marina"? Well it was really only a streetwise gas station that put pumps and some tumbledown docks on the waterside. $5.189/gal US for diesel! That's almost Canadian prices! And $4/ft for some really crappy docks! Thanks. This is a great place to anchor off and dingy in. Jim tells me that in the season there is also a water taxi that will come out to your boat and bring you in so you don't need to launch the dink.
The real post for today will come later after we get to Newport.
We had a great visit with Jim and Sharleen who came out to meet us on board SV Serendipity - they provided a salad - we were grateful for this as we ran out of crunchy stuff a few days ago and had not been in any ports that we could restock. Barb prepared veg, rice and a pork tenderloin - a great feast. One of the things about this traveling that we do is that we have built up our circle of friends up and down the seaboard and it is always a great occasion when we can actually get together to have a proper catch-up. Jim and Sharleen's photo is on today's post.
