Hurrah!

Since yesterday's post there have been some significant developments in the house purchase, to whit, they have accepted our offer! Now we just need to see the building inspector's report. We have budgeted for a new kitchen, a washer and dryer, repairs to the chimney, and a wood burning stove to help lower heating costs. All within our budget and which will allow us to travel south during the winter aboard Nelleke. Dontcha just love it when things seem to come together?

Our sweat equity in the house will come at the expense of tearing up the old carpets and sanding and refinishing the floors which are either hardwood or broad board pine; replastering up some cracks in the upstairs rooms; perhaps adding some ceiling insulation and taking care of the appartments. We plan to treat it as a nine to five job and go to Nelleke on the weekends for short cruises or take the kayak up the Roseway River on camping or fishing trips. Here's hoping the place passes the building inspection or at least doesn't come up with show stopper problems.
