Ready to rock and roll....
OK. First load is stowed aboard the car including the Kayak. Hurrah!
While Barb was out sorting out the storage units I decided to have a go at the macerator pump and quickly discovered that our problem was with the 12VDC panel itself. The previous owners had installed one of those cheap copy 6 fuse panels which was probably OK for the stuff they had on the boat at the time but with our additions including the macerator, the current draw was too much for it to handle. So it was a flying trip to the Binnacle for a new panel only this time we got one that was for higher amperage. Then it was the i-n-s-t-a-l-l! Whenever I do one of these I discover that there was something that either the previous owner or I had done that could have been done a lot better. In this case I added extra wire length so I could do future repairs without having to work around corners or only with the tips of my fingers, and where I will be able to have some light on the matter. Also I discovered that the 12V hot was being delivered to the panel from two separate sources confusing and a bit of overkill by anyone's estimation. So one of them came out - the oldest one.
It is now 1330 and we are having a lunch and I am trying to figure out some way that we could go down to Shelburne tonight without spending a buncha bucks. Can't think of anything so it will have to still be tomorrow.
