Fun at work

Great!

Although my toes are wriggling in the dirt, as I am sadly dirt bound, I am still able to be involved with the sea and things salty. Shelburne is embarking on a project to inspect and analyse the condition of our town Marine Terminal and guess who gets to play a role in the game? Liddle ol' me!

Facinating how so much of a coastal community and its surrounding countryside is tied, even in this day and age, to the sea. Shelburne used to have a huge role in shipbuilding and fishing etc and over time this has declined as had the town, but now with the offshore oil patch and its support, aquaculture replacing a good deal of the fishing industry because of the reliability of its nature, containerized shipping, and even visiting yachts, there is definately a future for the town, particularly if the marine terminal is of sufficient calibre. For me it's great fun writing the RFP and discussing the project with the iron ringers and knowing that whatever happens it will have a significant impact on the town's development.
