We are having our own all candidates’ debate

Not as important as the US election perhaps, but important just the same.
As I think I may have mentioned ad nauseum in previous posts we are in the midst of election fever here in NS and last night was the town’s all candidates’ debate. I didn’t make it myself as I couldn’t trust me to keep my yap shut and as I might have to work with whoever wins speaking my mind might not be the best or most diplomatic idea. As it is I am starting to look more and more favourably at getting back aboard and resuming the cruising lifestyle as soon as possible. I keep telling myself that I am building up the cruising kitty, that I am making money so that our dirt based lifestyle can be more, well, just more, but all the while I am not getting things done on the neither the boat nor even the house as I am so busy getting things done in town. I’m not sure what my final decision will be. I guess I will wait until after the election and see what the atmosphere is in the office.
As for the wine making adventure, on Saturday we bottled over 500 750 ml bottles of a very nice Chemin Blanc and Sunday over 1000 bottles of red. This was done to make room for the wine that we had crushed the week before. Wow! There was a LOT of work and it certainly could be done without the people in the coop each pitching in.
Sunday we did our Thanksgiving so that we could depart for the ferry on Monday but on the trip back from the winemaking we developed a problem with the caliper cylinder on the passenger side brake and since Monday was a statutory holiday we had to wait for Tuesday to get a mechanic to do the work. I couldn’t even do it myself since the stores weren’t open. So the departure to the ferry was delayed until Tuesday and as of Tuesday at 15h00 I am leading the bachelor life again in all aspects other than dating.
I have all the arrangements for Nelleke to be taken out for the winter so one day next week we will be pulling the old girl out and bringing her over to her winter spot.
Another year down range.
(SIGH!)
Why can’t we win a lottery or something so that I can quit my job, fix up the boat, fix up the house, and get back to cruising? We deserve it, don’t we? We’ve been good (with only a few lapses on my part)
(DEEPER SIGH!)
