Yes, old Padewan, we cannot rely on the weather

Nope. We have decided to spend this weekend alongside and work on the boat and the house. Sigh! It can’t be helped. I don’t think that even I would care to spend the entire weekend aboard in the wet and drizzle. An afternoon perhaps, it can’t be helped, but Friday evening, overnight and Saturday? I don’t think so. Of course now that we have committed to that it is most likely that we will have bright sunshine all weekend.
We have ordered in the materials to finish off the long suffering upstairs bathroom with new walls, a new floor, an old/new clawfoot tub, a marble top sink and a new toilet. Our new take no prisoners compressor should let us drive in the nails at light speed and the plumbing fitting are already in place. The whole place has been in a disrupted state since the first year that we were here, we simply haven’t gotten around to finishing off the job.
The club is in a great state of excitement as we are holding the Albacore Nationals here on the last weekend of the month. Nelleke will be a station boat and yours truly will serve as a rescue swimmer as and if required. I have never been up close and personal to a dingy regatta before so I will have my camera ready and snapping away. I might even take some video clips, but that is two weeks away. Next week is Founder’s Days, a festival celebrating the landing of the United Empire Loyalists in our town in 1783. They didn’t stay very long but for one brief flash Shelburne was the third largest community in North America, second only to NYC and Boston. Then folks began to drift away to other points in Canada or the Empire and some even went back to the US. I guess they were the United Empire Un-Loyalists.
