by Mike/time we got going weather
Ok. We’re back on Charlie’s mooring for a few hours, at least, while we get some final details sorted out. Unless you hear from us otherwise we will be underway sometime this morning. I will say that as we cam in to pick up the mooring bridles it was the first time that I was grateful to the Dock Rats that come down every day with their Tim Hortons to drink their coffee, chat with each other out the windows of their cars and look at the boats and the view. On this occasion their car headlights made it way easier to see the mooring and the bridles in the dark.
I will say that Barb’s suggestion, supported by the crew of Grace, that we head over to SMT Dock last night was an excellent one. Very calm, and we were able to tie up to the salmon farm feeding barge which made for a simple tie, stretched fore and aft with a single spring to hold us in. We had to leave at 07h15 so they could take the barge out to go to work, but that was a non issue since we are normally up by 06h00 anyway. The result of the move there was a totally calm and stress free night snug in our wee bunks dreaming the dreams of the just.
At the mooring, with then engine still running, we had hot water for the dishes and a “birdy bath” or helmet shower as we used to refer to it in the army, and we stowed all the mooring lines and fenders, and tidied up the rush mess that we made last night trying to get away from the dock.
I will be writing a post every day while underway, I just won’t be able to post until we get to the other side. If we leave here at around 09h30-10h00 we won’t catch the tide at Brazil Rock but we will be underway and we should arrive at Cape Cod sometime Wednesday evening.
