S/V NELLEKE

The ship's blog for SV Nelleke out of Shelburne, NS

Starting to Post Again

Well! Things are finally falling into place once again.

Nelleke has been launched and it is in the water at Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club and I am working on a variety of jobs to get her ready for a shakedown cruise. Many of these jobs are tidying up mistakes that I made in the past but other ones are completing jobs that I had started last year but didn't get finished before we tried to set off.

Our intent will be to have a short shakedown cruise to one of the island sites nearby that we've already been to, such as Cape Negro or Carter's Beach, and then a longer 36 hour sail to Liscomb Harbour up the Eastern shore. We have been there a number of times before and it's one of our favourite stop off points when we head up to Cape Breton.

This past year has been quite eventful at our club. We will be hosting the albacore international dinghy racing championship; and just to make things extremely interesting there was a fire at our yacht club which has us evicted from the building until it can be repaired and we are running things from a construction trailer in the parking lot.
