Provisioning run

We decided to have our provisioning run into Halifax today, on Wednesday, rather than tomorrow, so, here we are - our bank account $800 lighter and our car full of groceries.
It’s a funny thing. A shopping cart full of groceries seems to cost a lot more these days than it did way back when my parents used to make a bulk shopping run. I know that the cost of stuff has gone up but holy doodles!
We are looking very seriously at long range forecasts these days, searching for that elusive weather window. The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping and the leaves are quickly changing on the trees. Fall is definitely here and it is time that we skedaddled. The regular parade of tropical storm systems across the Atlantic is making us pause, though. Dorian, Umberto and now Jerry! And it’s still only mid September! We have decided that it would be smarter to take shorter legs, and to plan to travel through the US after all. It’ll keep us in touch with weather services and allow us to find a safe spot to hunker down in a storm.
Above all, we are hoping to go to the boat show in Annapolis again and perhaps look up our friends there. The place is ridiculously crowded but if we get there early enough there might be a place for us on one of the moorings.
