Wednesday November 2019 second post
This post represents the first partial day that we spent in Stuart. This was the third time we were here by boat and the fourth if you include the time that we drove here. We really like this community.
First I have to state that this is the first time on this trip that I feel we have arrived in a winter cruise location. There are waterfront bars, bikini and butt floss babes walking about on the street, and I actually felt that I needed to put on sunscreen.
We blew up the dingy and for the first time put the outboard on it. There has to be some trick to blow up the pontoons and not have the air all rush out when you take the pump off but before you can put the plug in. Of course I also forgot to open the fuel valve before I started tugging at the starter. How embarrassing! Once I had opened up the fuel valve she ran like a charm. So now, all I have to do is figure out how to keep the pontoons well inflated.
We came into the dock to pay for a week on the mooring and to take a walk about town. We are really looking forward to seeing our friends Bob and Louis when they come down Friday. We are going to have a couple of nights out on the town with them which will be a blast.
We made reservations for Friday and Saturday night for dinner at a couple of places in town that we have never been to. This will be wonderful. Good food, I hope and great company. Back home we would see these two fellows at least once a week and dine together a couple of times a month. They are great cooks and hosts and is like to imagine that we reciprocate. Louis introduced us to an immersion cooker and we have just bought a couple of accessories to it that we had delivered to this marina. We can't use them in the boat but we will take them home with us for use there.
I am finishing this post sitting in the cockpit having our first real sundowner and looking forward to the next week here. The Thanksgiving diner promises to be a lot of fun. Our potluck contribution will be a tray of brownies that Barb has already had some practise making.
