We started at mile 590 and are now at 539.5, a 50.5 mile day and we got here at two thirty in the afternoon. But the best thing is that we have cleared Georgia according to our self imposed schedule. Not that there is anything wrong with Georgia. Indeed, I’d like to have been able to hang out and explore, but not with our timetable.
We left Isle of Hope at 0700 and started off at a brisk pace becoming suitably impressed with the antebellum mansions, new and old, lining the water bank. We were rooting along only to be a reached to a halt at the one opening bridge on our route today. We were 45 minutes too early so we dropped anchor and hung out. Once we were underway we made reasonable time and it would have been a great day we’re it not for the cold temperatures and spitting rain.
Then, about two hours before we got to our destination the heavens opened and we began to be drenched. Fortunately I had my foulies on so I managed to stay moderately comfortable.
Our friends Bill and Ann have been gracious enough to invite us over to their home for dinner and to warm up.
Tomorrow we will be off to an anchorage at a place called Tom Point Creek where we have been before to stay for the night.
We have 539.5 miles to go.
