Departure
17 September 2020
• Shelburne Harbour
by Michael and Barbara Turney • Overcast
Well, it is just after 0900 and we’re off! Setting aside the usual (for me) butterflies in the stomach, and normal apprehension we are excited to be off. The apprehension comes from the fact that we are aboard someone else’s boat that we are not as familiar with as we are with Nelleke but still, the weather gods, if not smiling, they are at least not snarling. For the first 23 hours we will be steaming into light winds on the nose then the winds will back around to our aft quarter and pick up to moderate.
This morning was milder weather, not as cold as over the last two days, but since we know that at sea it will be cold at night we have dressed warmly and brought lost of additional warm clothes. Our particularly warm stuff, of course, is all aboard Nelleke.
Keep us in your thoughts and keep your fingers crossed.
I will write a blog every day but won’t be posting them until we make landfall at Cape Cod.
