Voyage of SY Nessaru - Departing Spain

12 April 2024 | Port Ginesta, Barcelona, Spain
Colin Maslen | Fair, light NNW breeze, clear and sunny
Our new Raymarine EV200 autohelm has been installed, the small leak in the fuel tank has been repaired, and the tank has been re-installed. The yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned, accounts have been settled, and many final preparations have been completed.

Registration as an Australian ship has been approved by AMSA’s Shipping Registration Office (SRO), however we do not have any documentation; the registration docs were sent to my Bundanoon address and AMSA could not send us a pdf copy, so we are relying on Mandy when she is next in the Southern Highlands.

Almost all systems are working as they should. We have tested Iridium Go! for phone, email, GPS tracking and Predict Wind GRIB file weather updates. However I cannot log onto the internet with Iridium, so updating this blog could be a problem when we are underway and may have to wait until we reach Madeira and get access to the marina’s WIFI.

The wind and weather forecasts look good for our passage down the coast of Spain and through the Strait of Gibraltar.

At long last, after five weeks in Spain and months of preparation before that, we will be underway!

Our MMSI is 503162640. You should be able to track us using Vessel Finder: https://www.vesselfinder.com/
