Return to Alicante
We all came to Alicante on Tuesday the 24 Sept. That includes Monica, myself, Ben (son) and Ugne (daughter-in-law). It was good for me to have the week off from working on the boat and say our goodbyes to everyone we wouldn't be seeing for more than 3 months. As usual there is work to finish up before making our departure. Owning a boat is like owning a house - there is always a project to work on. We had planned to leave Friday morning, go a short distance (6 hours) and anchor for the night. We decided there was too much to finish up and we would be better to leave Friday night around midnight and go directly to Cartagena. We spent Thursday at the big Carrefour (similar to a super Walmart) purchasing food and water to get us to Agidir and the stowing it. I'm always amazed at how much storage space there is on these old boats.
We needed to take some time away from the boat so on Friday we went to the castle Santa Barbara which overlooks the city. The castle was built on a huge rock so there are beautiful views for 360o including the harbor. When we returned to the boat we were able to finish storing everything and prepare for our midnight departure. All of the major work has been completed and I saved a few minor repair to work on while under way.
We are currently in Cartagena but I will save that for my next post.
