Rally Start
The rally officially started yesterday at 1300 local time (8:00 am eastern time) when all the participant boats crossed the start line. There was also a pretty good crowd of spectators on the seawall and in boats to watch. I'm sure photos have already been posted on the World Cruising Club web site. The wind was light at the start but quickly strengthened. The northeast trade winds have been blowing strong for the last week and we are well into them. So far it has been downwind sailing in 18-28 knots with higher gusts. We currently have only part of the jib unrolled.
We had the first roll-call on the SSB sailors net this morning. 16 boats checked in of the approximately 30 that are equipped with the radios. After everyone checked in there was a discussion about how much dose of a specific seasickness med to give to a 7-year old girl. She has been taking another type of pill and became sick anyway. Monica is really getting into the new toy and likes its usefulness.
