Great stay in Port Vila, Vanuatu

We've had a heartwarming visit to Vanuatu, both Port Resolution, Tanna, and Port Vila, Efate. The contrast between the two islands is staggering. Tanna is an island of small villages and very poor, Port Vila has all the comforts and problems of western influence including three casinos. The people are really heartwarming, especially on Tanna. They are largely Presbyterian Christians, thanks to the London Mission Service in the 1800 and 1900's. They are extremely generous and very poor, except rich in spirit! Everyone in the ARC donated clothing and goods to the village, we worked on one of their generators and donated a spare inverter, fishing equipment, chairs, clothing, knives and other items from NEXUS as well. We bought two generators and some additional aluminum cooking pots to send back to them from Port Vila with a fellow named Francios, who caught a ride up to Port Vila with us and returns later this week. We both want to return here some day to help these people, it is an extremely fulfilling activity!
