Leaving Cocos Keeling Islands
28 September 2014 | Cocos Keeling Islands, Indian Ocean
Russ and Laurie
We're leaving Cocos Keeling Islands tomorrow for the long sail to Mauritius, about 2300nm across the Indian Ocean. We've enjoyed our time in Cocos, relaxing on the white sand beaches and exploring the islands and crystal clear waters while catching up with the other crews on land. It's been raining hard the last few days, which we hope will tail off by tomorrow or it will be a wet ride! These islands are a gem, and well kept secret for a cruising stop! We have a new crew member addition, Finnbar, who is a 21 year old Fine Arts major from New Zealand and a joy to have on board. We're looking forward to being able to fly the colorful sails again now that we have full crew! We expect the crossing to take 12-14 days, so we're back on satellite again for the next couple of weeks but we'll stay in touch!
