Waiting on Hurrican Ida
09 November 2009 | Pensacola FL
German & Ruth
Hope this finds you all well. We have been busy preparing the boat all morning but now we have nothing but time. This storm should kick in by this evening, we expect it to be a little rough - not too bad.
The mast was raised in Mobil AL last tuesday. German prepared all the electrical cables and wenches, a large sling hoists it up. Roger is in charge of this operation and when everything is in place he climbs to the top of the mast (like a monkey-no ropes). He then tunes the rigging as if it were a violin.
Sails flew perfect as we crossed mobil bay.
We'll be here at Pensacola naval base until the end of the week. Next stop Panama City where we hope to meet friends Stan & Karen for dinner.
Love to all!! Will post again soon.
Again Preparig to Depart to Key West
26 August 2009 | Grand Rivers, Ky
German and Ruth / Sunny and 88
Last year we had our shakedown cruise to Key West from Grand Rivers Ky. This year we will kick it up a KNOTCH. It is starting to turn a bit cooler now, to us means time to head south. Our plan this year is to go to Puerto Rico, BVI and return. Our first stop is again Key West. SEAQUINN is on the hard getting some much needed upgrades here in Kentucky. Thrusters, dripless shaft seal, Flir Thermal Camera for night travel, a second monitor at the helm a a few other things including a new bottom paint. It is the 26 of August, and we hope to be in the water by the first week of september. Our departure will be around the second week of October. We will bring the boat to Pensacola, Fl first, then Ft Myers, Fl. We will visit family during Christmas in Puerto Rico then return to Ft. Myers and sail to Key West for a few weeks. We will spend time at the Boca Chica Naval Air Station in preparation for our initial sail through the Bahamas, then on down to Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico. We will post our location on our blog in order for friends and family to follow. As you can imagine Ruth and I are very excited and truly feel that the Lord has shed his grace on us, and we want to share this blog with our blessed ones, family and friends. Feels like a bucket of water on a hot day good. Stay tunned!
