Malo e lelei from the Kingdom of Tonga! Aaaah Tonga - what a brilliant cruising ground this has been. We have just spent a delightful 3 weeks around Vava'u, the northern island group of Tonga. With the Richardson/Danks crew followed by the Sloanes, Nika has been the hostess with the mostess and thankfully she has performed beyond expectation!
Amongst the many highlights we have: snorkelled some great coral reefs, eaten superb Tongan feasts, enjoyed many a G&T, sighted 3 humpback whales, one of which had swum right into the anchorage at 7am, had the kids swinging on halyards and climbing the mast, baked and baked some more, played a bunch of card and board games and generally all had a great time. Our kids have enjoyed hanging out with their Aussie friends and particularly having a well earned break from schoolwork.
We leave today for Fiji which should be a 3 day passage with good conditions predicted. We plan to be quite vigilant on this passage with our navigation as apparently there are two types of cruisers in Fiji - those who have hit a reef and those who are about to hit a reef...
Aaah Tonga - you've been really good to us!!! Over and out for now and next up Bula from Fiji!
