Sailing with Nine of Cups

After three weeks anchored off Rikitea, we decided to move to another little island here in the Gambier (about 5 miles away, but around the corner from the anchorage) but positioned for the exit out of the northwest pass through the reef. We finally have a weather window with winds from the east to southeast, and need to take advantage of it. The area near this island is not well charted so we opted to anchor quite a ways off the shore in 15 feet. We weren't anchored an hour before a motor skiff came out driven by a pleasant young man telling us there was a better anchorage with plenty of water much closer in and better sheltered. He offered to lead the way. So "up anchor" and we followed and are now snuggled in nearer the shore and in the lee of another motu (island) and the water is like glass. Our plans to leave early in the morning disappeared when Herve declined our offer for a beer aboard, but suggested we come to shore to his house in the morning as he lots of fruit to share with us. How can you pass that up? We are continually overwhelmed by the generosity of our hosts.
