Our first sail

15 June 2009 | Penetang
This past weekend we had our first sail on the boat, We had been out with the motor but never had the sails up. On Sat we motored out to the bay and only put the main up. With many referances back to the owners manual up it went and we were off. This was our spare sail and it doesn't quit fit right(doesn't go to the top of the mast or to the end of the boom). The next morning we motored out to the same quite spot and put up the working jib, looked and fit beautiful, put up the main right after,,, NO WIND! Within a half hour the wind picked up and we had a great 2hr trip to Beausoleil and back. Got back in just as the rain started. I'm still having trouble with my honda outboard dieing out but I'll figure it out.

On Saterday morning we hooked up to the boat and left the driveway heading north with many many hours of work now "behind us". With no trafic it really is a nice drive up to the Marina(1:35min), When we got there Sonia took the dogs for a pee and when Austin (my dog) losses site of me he gets very worried, slips out of his collar and off on the hunt for me breaking the "All dogs must be on a leash" rule. Luckly he has no interest in other dogs or people as everyone seemed to be trying to cathch him. So much for first impressions.
While we were waiting for the Ramp to come free we meet siblings Katlynn and Wes who seemed to know what they were doing while helping others erect there mast and we asked for there help with ours. The boat went in with ease and the mast went up the same.
After going to town to get some pizza we went out for a motor run and found that the engine would stall at higher rpms. sourced the prob and found that the fuel line was too old and collapsing under the vacume.
Back at our new slip saftly just in time for the rain to hit and dinner we set up the boat for our first night on board. All went well for the weekend accept for the 2 degree weather we woke up to.
This is a pic of Noahs new best spot on the boat.

It's been a while since I last bloged due to late nights working on the boat. We brought it home so we could work on it together and not need a babysitter. Lets see? Whats been done? All the bright work has been reinstalled, all plumbing lines and seacocks replaced, all new electrical, paint bottom and stripes, paint name on stern, start engine(second pull after sitting for two years), replace the windows, fibraglass work on cockpit hatch. Oh and Sonia did an amazing cleaning, bumpers and bump rail look great. In the retightening of the motor bracket bolts the wrench sliped and I split my forhead open a little.
I'll post a bunch of pics soon
