8.30am. I spoke to Steve because the wind has dropped a lot here in Auckland and is moving around to the North West.
It is still blowing 20kts NE at the Mercs but Steve's going to up anchor and stick his nose outside for a look.
Metservice is saying there is a 4m NE swell running so the seas will still be big but it will drop as the wind goes to the west.
I'll keep the position map updated regularly if he moves.
10.30am Still blowing 20knts with 3m swells so sitting tight.
2pm Up anchored and sailing into 15kt northerly and rough seas for the last step to Milford.
7pm Turned the corner and now into the home waters of the Hauraki Gulf. What a relief. Sailed through the night to anchor off Milford at 2am. ME
