That's a pic of the captain showing his crew how it's done!

We left on Tuesday afternoon with great wind on the starboard beam. The wind has gradually picked up and veered till now. It dropped a little today but it is still charging along. Great sailing.

It's very hot at the same time, so it's not so great down below as we cant have the hatches open due to waves crashing over the bow or beam and coming in. I find myself going to sleep in a sweat and waking in a sweat.

Today, perhaps fortunately for the rest of the crew, I get to have a shower.. God knows I need one!

Yesterday afternoon we caught our first fish of the trip: a 4kg mhai mahi. Huge!

That will be cooked tonight by Rob and Eran.

Last night's food was prepared by Joy and Charlie; it was a lovely mild curry. The night before that was a pasta dish cooked by myself and Juan.

Spirits are good on board and everyone has settled into a routine knowing that it will be at least another week at sea.

I am thoroughly enjoying the sailing. The power of the sea makes a 76 foot yacht feel like a cork bobbing in the ocean. It is truly humbling. However, the missing of my family is quite the hard thing to deal with. There is a lot of alone time at night on watch where one's mind can be left to wander. I think about my family a lot, and wonder what I am missing. I try not to, as it is quite upsetting, but it is very hard!

We headed south south east from Bermuda to avoid a tropical storm. In the last few hours we have started heading east and heading directly for the Azores.

Until now we have been covering about 200 miles a day.

I must go now and catch some more sleep. But first, that shower!!
