After nine months in Oz, and no sign of crocs or a wild kangaroo, our parting gesture with this enormous island was a trip to the Adelaide River in search of wild crocs. A sighting was a certainty on one of the Crocodile River Cruise Boats.
The crocs in the Adelaide River are wild but are encouraged – or rather, enticed, with pork and buffalo chops to the edge of the river boats. Us paying guests would click away with our camera’s whilst observing the interesting Health & Safety call from our guide Morgan .. “now don’t put your arms over the edge, he’ll have ‘em off”. The younger crocs would sing for their supper by leaping from the water.
We head off from Darwin tomorrow on our passage to Kupang, Indonesia – it should take no more than 4 days. We’ll update you with our experiences when we get internet access.
Having both worked hard we decided we should enjoy an exciting and challenging retirement whilst we were young enough and fit enough. To realise this dream, we replaced our monohull with an ocean-going liveaboard catamaran.
