Forteleza - here we come ... there we go!

22 January 2009 | South Atlantic
The Crew
We were all looking forward to recharging our batteries (human) with a couple of days in Brazil but it wasn't to be. There was a big swell in the marina caused by a low pressure system and it was just not possible to make a safe mooring despite the few attempts. Needless to say, we didn't get to pick up our emails in our 'oceansdream' accounts either. Hey-ho ... let's try Trinidad instead! Sadly, still 10 days away but spirits are high on board although the beer and brandy are going down fast. Crazy weather at the moment ... 28 degrees C but little wind and that which there is, is coming from the North (rather than the South) and the heavy overcast skies are meaning that we're having to do a fair amount of motoring. Otherwise, all is well on board and we hope the weather will improve so that we can make our target of Trinidad on 29 Jan. Some facts and figures; we've now been at sea for 45 days and completed 4,102 nautical miles with a further 1,300 to go. Best wishes to all.
