Update From Trinidad
10 February 2009 | Harts Cut Bay
The Crew
We spent a week in relative luxury at the Crews Inn Marina and the picture heading this blog is taken there. On Saturday we motored our Admiral 40 round to Harts Cut Bay and we are anchored in the waters belonging to the Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association. For an absolute snip we can anchor here and go ashore in the 'rubber ducky' to use the facilities - showers, swimming pool, laundry, bar and restaurant and wifi. This is also the domain of 'real' cruisers and many of those we have met have been doing this many years - some are even on their third circumnavigation. Many people come to Trinidad to get work done as it is very well equipped. We are doing this too next week as we haul out to get the various issues resolved. Some are very minor but others require engine lifts and major investigations. The CEO of Admiral Yachts is at the Miami boat show at the moment and is coming down next week to help us sort the work to be done. This is clearly not ideal but at the end of it all we will know Oceans Dream inside out ourselves!
We are hoping to use the time ashore to visit some of the island and catch the carnival fever which is already well underway despite the big parades not taking place for a couple of weeks.
Jackie uploaded the dolphin video this morning on our main website so hope you enjoy watching this.
Regards to all our followers from a very hot and sticky Trinidad.
PS John and Luke departed on Sunday on a 2 day marathon of flights to get them back to Cape Town. Luke was particularly looking forward to the stop over in London as he has never seen snow before!
