Things Are Looking Up!

The Crew / 32 deg C, Brilliant sunshine and no tremors!
Today has bought some brighter news for the Crew of Oceans Dream. Admiral Yachts have been in touch and approved some more of the outstanding repair work - fantastic. Just a couple more things on the snag list to sort and we'll be jumping for joy!
The weather continues to get hotter and the strength of the sun along with the humidity makes for searching for some shade the majority of the time. At 18:15 yesterday, the temperature was 36C but a cool breeze was beginning to pick up and we've discovered a rum punch, with lots of ice is a must to cool down the body temperature. A dip in the sea would be nice but it's not too welcoming here in Chaguaramas. The bay is a catchment area for the litter floating down from the capital of Trinidad, Port of Spain. The number of plastic bottles is unbelievable.
Back to the weather. Trinidad has recently experienced a number of earthquakes. How recently you might ask. Well, each month of this year to date. In fact, the last was on Tuesday night at 22:03. It was measured at 4.3 in magnitude. For those of you who are not seismologists, the effects felt from an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale are described as 'Noticeable shaking of indoor items, rattling noises.' Could almost be mistaken for a poltergeist on board! Adrian felt the earthquake. Jackie didn't.
While weekdays are mainly occupied with chasing up developments on Oceans Dream, weekends are more relaxed. Saturday will see us visiting Maracas Bay on the north of the island. Travel reporters write... 'This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.' We'll report back next week.
Best wishes from a happier crew, Jackie & Adrian
