Juliana Making the Curtains

27 April 2009 | Mamaki
Chris Larn/Rainy and damp
I mentined that Juliana has been making up new curtains for Magic Roundabout in the last post. We were in Whangarei to look athe work needed on the boat and Chris and Juliana wanted to check out fabrics for the new curtains so off we go to the various suppliers in town, eventually settling on a cheap but suitable fabric from which to sew together the various bits that we need to replace on the boat. The design is south sea inspired (appropriately enough!) and features dolphins and a nice azure blue background that promises to brighten the environment below decks and add a little zing to things generally.

Imagine the scene:- one end of the living room with the sewing machine, a table and yards of fabric spread out. Every other available space covered with the various pieces of yatch fitting drying out and being varnished. Two de-humidifiers running to give dry wood to varnish and give quick drying times between coats. The work is going well now and we hope to have finished in time for the boat to come out of the water tomorrow. More on this later when we see what needs done when we get sight of the hull below the water line...
