Feels great to be underway!
We spent the first week getting to know the local Vanuatu fish species in Havanah, western Efate as well as each other. Great boat, people, snorkeling and scenery - couldn't have asked for more! Also loving this warm temperature after New Zealand's winter weather!
Emily and I completed surveys in the no-take area outside a village of Lelepa in a newly formed World Heritage Site. While attaining historical preservation, the heritage site has yet to establish formal marine protection, so requests were made by the committee to do marine assessments within the area. Unfortunately the wind picked up however, so we had to get a move onto a more sheltered site. Hoping to get back down there though on my return trip!!
