Chief Dominic of Druvaii - a neighbouring village to Lamap/Port Sandwhich requested a talk about OceansWatch so I made the 2 hour walk in the rain to meet with him. The whole village (or near enough!) showed up to hear me talk - and I was lucky to have some one would good english to do some translations. They were all very enthusiastic about the monitoring and I've organized to do a survey with them later this week. Should be fun!
Emily and I did a survey today, we had a team of 6 guys to help us find invertebrates. There was a bit of a strong swell and some nice waves to swim through before getting to the outer reef. Survey went well with some decent fish populations. I'm sure if I had the chance to hang around their longer I'd have seen some more decent fish!
