Yesterday I finally got around to changing the motor oil on the boat. It's not difficult, but it is hard to do neatly. Oil looks really bad on white fiberglass. Earlier in the morning I went on a walking tour of downtown La Paz with Rick, from the boat Hotel California. He took me to two big indoor markets, that we like swap meets, but inside a building. The variety of foods available was a bit intimidating, so I ended up only getting smoked tuna. My friend ordered a variety of meats from a butcher stall, including fresh bacon, smoked pork chops, filet mignon, and hamburger. It was fun watching the butcher cut each piece, asking about how thick or large.
Since I have been invited for "sundowners" (cocktails) on several other boats, I hosted a small cocktail party aboard
Odyssey. Gravel and Nat from True Companion were there, along with Greg and Sally from Scout, Mark from Mintaka, and Rick and Pam from Hotel California. We ended up going for late burgers at a place called Bandidos. What a great evening.
