Susan caught her flight in the morning, and I began squaring away Odyssey. With 10 more days in La Paz, I spent them doing boat chores, and exploring the city and restaurants. On the boat, I washed everything on the outside, and had covers made for the steering pedestal (binnacle) and the windlass, which raises the anchor. On the inside, I painted the main salon white, which covers the wood-grained Formica that is in the walls. Things are so much brighter now. I also have done several loads of laundry at the dock, using my Home Depot bucket and plastic plunger as the washing machine. It works surprisingly well, with clothes hung around the boat to dry.
While we were trapped in the Marina by the north winds, Susan and I tried several new restaurants. We found two places with amazing ribs and fish, and were told about a place that serves live clams. I tried that place, El Empenada, a few days ago and was blown away by the taste of fresh clams. I am making notes on all the restaurants so that I can be a good tour guide when people come to visit me in La Paz.
