Day 4 - Baja Mainland

11 March 2014 | San Evaristo, BCS
Bill
3/08/14
We awoke to a windy, hazy morning. We decided to head out for San Evaristo, which is supposed to be good shelter in most any kinds of wind. We shall see... We left under sail and were able to sail almost the whole way. We motored the last bit and had to anchor twice due to the wind pushing us into shallow water. We got all that sorted out and had a look around.
San Evaristo is a very pretty cove with several fishermen's homes close to the beach. There is a small village nearby with a school, and they even have a De-salinization plant for water. John went for a kayak while I went SUPing around the area. John discovered two odd fish along the shoreline, which we believe to be Oarfish. They are over 10' long and really pretty and unusual looking.
We are sharing the anchorage with about 8 other boats, though we were the third boat here. The evening turned out to be calm and beautiful. Although the wind came up several times during the night, we had a great night's sleep.
