Last day, swimming with whale sharks

We spent the last day getting the boat squared away, but began the day by swimming with whale sharks! We took a Panga out to the Bay of La Paz, which is outside of the channel where the marinas are. At first we joined several other boats in bothering one lone whale shark. He (or she) was not enjoying it, so we left to find our own shark. After motoring a bit we came upon a 25-footer that was practically begging us to swim with it. This one was very relaxed and allowed us to swim alongside for almost an hour. We finished up the trip floating in the boat next to the shark as it lazily swam along. one our way back to the marina, we cruised by a large Marlin that was sunning itself on the surface. Wow! We all agreed that this was just one more highlight in an already amazing trip.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in and out of the water, as we readied Odyssey for our departure. We walked way up the Malecon (boardwalk) into the town for drinks and dinner, and to watch the Kings game. We were drenched in sweat by the time we got to the restaurant, as it was about 100 degrees. The walk home later was much more pleasant, the sun having already set, and a nice breeze was blowing. We all enjoyed our last night aboard and dreamed of home and distant anchorages.
That wraps up this latest trip blog, and I thank you all for taking the time to read these words.
Cheers, Bill
