Heading To the Islands
23 July 2014 | Ensenada Del Candelero
Bill, warm

Following a quick breakfast and some last minute provisioning, we pulled away from the Marina at 1030. We motor sailed most of the way, with nary a fish bite on our lures. We arrived at Ensenada Del Candelero at 1445, in a sweltering heat. We had to set the anchor twice, then it was all hands in the pool. Even with the sun shade, the day was about 100 degrees. The 86 degree water was barely a relief. Shorty (Mike S.) figured out that by pulling himself down the anchor chain, he could reach cooler water about 10 feet down. Pretty soon we were all hanging around at 6-10 feet trying to cool down. As the day cooled finally, we found ourselves on the menu for mosquitos. I know this sounds like "poor us here in Mexico", but I was really surprised by the heat, and the inability to cool off. The evening was ushered in with an absolutely stunning sunset (see photo).
We sat around on the forward deck after dinner, trying to catch any breeze on our bodies. After another round of stories and beverages, we all headed to bed. Both Mikes opted to sleep outdoors, while I slept inside. We all battled the heat and Mosquitos during the night.
