On to Isla San Francisco

Bill, hot

We were all up before 0700, enjoying the cool of the pre-sun early morning. We had a quick powwow and decided to make the 22 mile run to Isla San Francisco. We figured we would have 4 hours to fish while making the move. We motor sailed most of the way, with a nice tailwind. When the wind died we dropped both sails, which eliminated any shade that we had. We erected our sun shade, which we normally only use while anchored, and it immediately cooled the cockpit as we motored on. We arrived without getting any fish strikes again, but did see one turtle and a sea snake. The anchorage was fairly full, but we still managed to secure the prime spot that we had last time. We were anchored in 12' by 1205. As usual, I forgot to reel in our lines before getting to the anchorage. This time, a dinghy went roaring by and the motor grabbed one of our lures. Fish on! We quickly cut the line before the reel was emptied. Later, Shorty, in full SEAL mode, snorkeled over to the boat in question, and retrieved our lure from the unsuspecting boaters.
This anchorage is much cooler than yesterday. Even the water is a couple of degrees cooler, so we are all happy campers, er, sailors. While the two Mikes went fishing in the dinghy, I carried on with some boat projects. The refrigerator has been cooling poorly in this extreme heat, so I drilled a bunch of 1" holes in the cabinet to allow better airflow for the compressor. We shall see if it makes any difference. The day wore on with all of us spending time in the water. Shorty hung out on the anchor chain for a couple of hours, and we all paddle boarded. Much to our dismay, we found that some of the previous night's Mosquitos had stowed away, and followed us the Isla San Francisco. To our further diappointmment, we were soon being bitten by Mosquitos from the new island. As evening fell,we had a no-frills dinner, as the wind fell and the heat rose. We all battled the heat and biting insects in our own way throughout the night.
