We were all up before the sun, and cooling off in the water. It was a welcome respite from the biters that were on board. We quickly hauled anchor, and were on our way by 0715. Once outside of the anchorage, we put two fishing lines in the water, and hoisted sails. We motor sailed towards the islands nearer to La Paz, and as the breeze freshened, we added two more sails. We saw quite a few dolphins, spread out over several miles. As we approached Isla Partida, we were forced to drop the sails, relying just on our motor to get us home. Passing each new anchorage, we felt sure that a fish strike was just a moment away, and continued to change lures to appear more attractive to the fish. We saw many rays and fish jumping, some of them quite close.

As we entered San Lorenzo Channel, which spans the distance between Isla Espiritu Santo and the Baja peninsula, the wind died completely, increasing the air temperature significantly. We spent the remainder of our trip back to La Paz dividing our energies between switching lures and wetting ourselves with a sprayer to try to cool ourselves. We pulled into the dock at about 1500, and were safely tied up a short time later. We spent the next couple of hours squaring things away and swimming.

We all showered and then we walked into town along the waterfront. We were looking for anyplace with air conditioning, but being Monday, many of the restaurants and bars were closed. We finally ended up in the same place that we had gone the night that Mike B. arrived, the Bismark. We all enjoyed our seafood dinners and then went in search of a cold beverage in an equally cold place. We popped into a high-end restaurant that was frosty inside. We seated ourselves in the bar and enjoyed the enveloping coolness. Upon exiting, we stepped into an almost liquid heat, and decided to take a cab home, rather than brave the long walk. We arrived at the boat crossing our fingers that any stowaway Mosquitos had gotten hungry and left in search of food. A nice breeze came up and we all opted to sleep outside. I got up to collapse our sunshade in the middle of the night when the winds became too strong, but we all slept wonderfully, free of bugs and relatively cool.
